💡 The Idea:
In 2015, Patrick Wardle founded Objective-See LLC, the precursor to the Objective-See Foundation.
He saw various gaps in the macOS (well, technically then OS X) space, including the need for effective, security tools.
He founded Objective-See to create simple, yet effective macOS security tools. Such tools are always free and now fully open-source ...no strings attached!
🍎 The Objective-See Foundation:
Today, Objective-See is now a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (EIN: 86-3546876).
GuideStar is a non-profit organization that both reports on, and provides information about, non-profits foundations.
The Objective-See Foundations maintains a Gold transparency rating on Guide Star, that you can view here.
The Foundation focuses on:
- The creation of free, open-source macOS security tools.
- The writing of the "The Art of Mac Malware" book series.
- Organizing the macOS security conference, "Objective by the Sea" (#OBTS).
The foundation also works to raise money for various charities, both locally (such as IMUA Family Services):

Having worked at NASA and the NSA, as well as presenting at countless security conferences, he is intimately familiar with aliens, spies, and talking nerdy.
Patrick is passionate about all things related to macOS security and thus spends his days finding Apple 0days, analyzing macOS malware, and writing both books, and free open-source security tools to protect Mac users.

Tom has been working in the security industry since the late 90s. He is the CTO of a cybersecurity firm and an Instructor at Johns Hopkins University where he teaches Reverse Engineering, OS Security, Cryptology and Cyber Risk Management.
